κανθός

Ancient Greek

Etymology

Uncertain. Sometimes suggested to be related to Proto-Slavic *kǫtъ (corner), Proto-Celtic *cantos (corner) through a Proto-Indo-European *kh₂ndʰ, but Beekes doesn't find this convincing, as -νθ- is often indicative of Pre-Greek.
