Likely of Pre-Greek origin. Compare Akkadian [script needed] (Pilistu), [script needed] (Palastu) and Hebrew פְּלִשְׁתִּים (Pəlíštim). Also consider Egyptian prst, an ethnicity listed by Pharaoh Merneptah as part of the Sea People coup against Egypt circa 1190 BCE.
