Etymology

Μυσός is possibly an exonym from μυσος (musos, “defilement, uncleanness”), as Mysians were described as being weak and subpar, which could be related to μῖσος (mîsos, “hatred”) or μαδάω (madáō, “I am wet, moist”), or a Pre-Greek word.
