Type: [Former Russian part of Caspian desert], "Inter Suaedas fruticosa species passim occurit in salsuginosis, etiam siccis, deserti Caspici; a latere Persico major".
Lectotype (designated by Lomonosova & Freitag 2011, Willdenowia, 41(2): 220.): Chenopodium physophorum M. Suaeda Pall. (Habet pro Salsola fruticosa Linn. Pall.). Ex Sibiria. Pall. Lectotype: LE , (right-hand plant only); Isolectotype: BM000040917 (right-hand plant only); Syntypes: LE (2x), BM000884274.
