Note: If the proposals put forward by Bruyns et al. (2017, 2018) are accepted then all the highly succulent stapeliad genera above will be subsumed into an expanded 717 species Ceropegia s.l.. This has a number of advantages including; rendering Ceropegia monophyletic, making most natural nothogenera obsolete and stabilising nomenclature. Consensus is slowly being reached.
