Protobothrops elegans (Gray, 1849)
- Syntypes (2): BMNH 1946.1.20.2 (formerly BMNH 1847.3.4.62) and BMNH 1946.1.19.31 (formerly BMNH 1847.3.4.64), adult and juvenile, presented by E. Belcher between 1843–1846.
- Type locality: “West coast of (North?) America?”, corrected to “Ishigaki shima” by Stejneger (1907).
