Type locality: Brazil, Bahia.
Lectotype: ZMB. male ♂. (lectotype designated by Austin & Mielke 2008: 4).
Synonyms
- Phareas ferruginea Plötz, 1883 (reinstated status).
- Phareas cervinus Plötz, 1883, new synonymy. TL: unknown, becomes Bahia [Brazil] with neotype designation; original type apparently lost, male neotype herein designated is the lectotype of Phareas ferruginea Plötz, 1883 in ZMB.
- Porphyrogenes despecta cervinus Plötz, 1883: Evans 1952
