- Paratypes: KPM-NI 31128 (1); OMNH-P 34758 (1 c&s), 35278 (1), 35384, 35385 (2).
Type locality: mouth of Urauchi-gawa River, Irimote-jima Island, Yaeyama Group of Ryukyu Islands, Japan.
Etymology: The specific name saltator is Latin (= dancer), in allusion to the mating behavior of the male of this species.
