Sadly, the renowned German phytochemist Siegfried Huneck died on 9 October 2011, at age 81. He devoted much of his time to the study of lichen substances, being one of the leading experts in this field during the second half of the 20th century. His obituary appeared in Herzogia 24(2), 185-205 (2011).
