Holotype: MHNG PBI_OON 00016046, male, 29–30 May 2004, leg. P. Schwendinger.
Type locality: West-Malaysia: Johor: Gunung Arong (2°33'12.1" N, 103°45'20.5" E), 20 m, rain forest, 15 km N of Mersing.
Etymology: The species epithet is composed from parts of the surname of the German entomologist Martin H. Schmidt-Entling, working at the University of Bern, Switzerland.
