Holotype: MHNG PBI_OON 00031328, male, 9-10 July 2001, leg. P. Schwendinger.
Type locality: West-Malaysia: Pahang: Charas Hill ca. 3 km N of Panching (03°54'41.1"N, 103°08'50.2"E), 60 m, evergreen forest on limestone.
Etymology: The species epithet refers to the Latin and English noun insomnia because the discrimination of intraspecific variation and feasible characters for a differentiation to other species caused sleepless nights.
