- Holotype: UFMA 1.40.086.
- Paratypes: one complete tooth plate (UFMA 1.40.060) and eight incomplete tooth plates (UFMA 1.40.042, 1.40.043, 1.40.062, 1.40.079, 1.40.087, 1.40.374, 1.40.465, 1.40.489).
Type locality: Brazil, Laje do Coringa fossiliferous site, Cajual Island, northern Maranhão State.
Etymology: The specific name is in reference to Alcântara, the town where the type material was collected.
