- Holotype: LSUHC 8965, ♀, collected on 7 June 2008 by L. L. Grismer, P. L. Wood, Jr., J. L. Grismer and Chan K. O. at 1030 hrs.
- Type locality: MALAYSIA: Base of Gunung Ledang Johor, Peninsular Malaysia (02°20.25’ N, 102°37.11’ E) at 100 m elevation.
- Etymology: The specific epithet peninsularis is an adjective in reference to the distribution of this species being restricted to Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore and their adjacent islands.
