Type: Iran. Flora of Iran, Gonbad Province: 5 km E of Maraveh Tappeh on level of plateau above Atrak River, 220 m. 1977/10/20, T.F. Hewer 4068. Holotype: LE LE00011822.

Considered as a synonym of Salsola crassa M.Bieb. subsp. turcomanica (Litv.) Freitag by Freitag 1997 and of Climacoptera turcomanica (Litv.) Botsch. by Hassler 2019. Accepted by Govaerts 2019.
