Note: Fischer (et al.) (2013) proposed a narrower circumscription of this genus, which has involved the establishment of a new genus Linderniella and the possible resurrection of Bonnaya and Vandellia. In addition, there would be species transfers to Craterostigma, Micranthemum and Torenia. There is not, as yet, full acceptance of this proposal, but these proposals may be implemented here in due course.
