Name

Betta stiktos Tan & Ng, 2005

  • Holotype: CAS 204326.
  • Paratypes: CAS 94115 (19); ZRC 43391 [ex CAS 94115] (3).

Type locality: Small swampy stream from Stung Treng to Ban Lung, about 3/4 to bridge over Tonle Srepok, about 13°30'N, 106°30'E , Mekong River basin, Cambodia.

Etymology: The name comes from the Greek stiktos meaning dappled, spotted, referring to the rows of diagnostic round spots on the dorsal fin. Used as a noun in apposition.
