Etymology

Definite form of vreun. Probably from Vulgar Latin root *vēre-ūnus (“truly only one”), from Latin vērē + ūnus, or alternatively from vel ūnus though this is uncertain. Compare Aromanian vãrnu. Compare Italian veruno.
