From Proto-Albanian *tˢjānakti, from *ḱjeh₂- + *nókʷteí, dative-locative compound, literally ‘this night’. Cognate to Lithuanian šiąnakt and Latvian šonakt (“today”). Same type of construction as sot, sivjet. More at natë.
