From Late Latin pentarchia, from Ancient Greek πενταρχία (pentarkhía), from πεντα- (penta-, “penta-: five”) + -αρχία (-arkhía, “-archy: rule”), perhaps via Middle French pentarchie. Equivalent to pent- + -archy.
