Etymology

From fuŝi (“botch, bungle”).

Prefix

fuŝ-

(colloquial) in a botched, bungled, or ill-conceived manner.
paroli (“speak”) → fuŝparoli (“speak (a language) poorly and without effort”).
(colloquial) botched, bungled, ill-conceived, ruined.
verko (“artwork”) → fuŝverko (“botched artwork, bungled artwork, ill-conceived artwork”).

Usage notes

Unlike the prefix mis-, fuŝ- implies a harsh negative judgment.
In traditional Esperanto grammatical terms, fuŝ- is not a true prefix but a verbal root used in compounding.
