Late Latin dotatio, from Latin dotare (“to endow”).

Noun

dotation (plural dotations)

  1. The act of endowing, or bestowing a marriage portion on a woman.
  2. Endowment; establishment of funds for support, as of a hospital or eleemosynary corporation.
