Derived from the active present participle of verbs (suffix -va) in the essive case (suffix -na).

  1. Indicates pretended or suggested action; multiple English equivalents.
    Olen tekevinäni työtä, ja työnantaja on maksavinaan minulle palkkaa.
    I pretend to work and my employer pretends to pay me a salary.

Usage notes

A possessive suffix is always added. It is presently regarded as a suffix in its own right (§123 in Kotus's online grammar).
