From ἠλέκτωρ (ēléktōr, “shining sun”), from unknown origin. Possibly related to Sanskrit उल्का (ulka, “meteor”). Or, related to ἠλέκτωρ (ēléktōr, “shining sun”), from ἥλιος (hḗlios, “sun”).
