Etymology
From Proto-Kartvelian *qoqob-, which is probably Onomatopoeic in origin. Ancient Greek sources mention the abundance of pheasants in Kingdom of Colchis.
Svan ჴოჴუ̂ებ (qoqûeb) might be borrowed from Georgian.
