From Maharastri Prakrit 𑀲𑀁𑀩𑀼𑀚𑁆𑀛𑀇 (saṃbujjhaï), from Sanskrit सम्बुध्यते (sambudhyate). Cognate to Gujarati સમજવું (samajvũ), Hindi समझना (samajhnā).
