Although معاف کیجئے‎ (mu'āf kījie) and other معاف‎ (mu'āf) + imperative combinations are often translated as "sorry" or "excuse me", it should be noted that افسوس‎ (afsos), in the form مجھے افسوس ہے (mujhe afsos hai) as well as the Anglicism سوری‎ (saurī) are also commonly used.
