Singulative noun composed of كَرَز (karaz, cherry) + ـَة (-a). Compare Akkadian 𒅗𒅈𒋗 (karšu); cognate with Ancient Greek κερασός (kerasós) brought to Greece through an unidentified Anatolian language; also see cherry.
