- During the period of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia the police forces were called Milicija SFR Jugoslavije (“SFR Yugoslavia's militsiya”). After the fall of communism, the police forces were renamed into Policija, and the term is used today either to denote the erstwhile institution or colloquially the present ones.
