Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰖𐰑𐰍 (yadaγ, “on foot”), Old Uyghur y'd'γ (yadaγ, “on foot”) , Kazakh жаяу (jayaw), Kyrgyz жөө (cöö), Southern Altai јою (ǰoyu), Uzbek yayov (“on foot”), Turkish yaya (“pedestrian, afoot, on foot”) etc.
