From Old East Slavic дъвою родꙋ (dŭvoju rodu, of two generations) + -ный (-nyj). дъвою (dŭvoju) is a genitive dual form, from which -ю- (-ju-) was extracted and used analogously in трою́родный (trojúrodnyj), четверою́родный (četverojúrodnyj).
