Bashkir

Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish büyük (large), from Old Turkic bedük "big, large", from Old Turkic verbal stem bedü- "to grow large", from Proto-Turkic *bEdü- (to grow large).

The Native Kypchak development from that Old Turkic root is biyik (see Bashkir бейек (beyek, tall, high)).
