From Old Turkic aqa ini (“elder and younger brothers”).
Synchronously, equivalent to ағай (ağay, “elder brother”) + эне (ene, “younger brother”).
Cognate with Kyrgyz агайын (agayın), агайин (agayin), агайни (agayni); Kazakh ағайын (ağayın, “a way to address a male congregation”), Uzbek ogʻayni (“brothers; male friends”), Uyghur ئاغا-ئىنى (agha-'ini, “smaller and elder brothers”).
