Holywood

Holywood is a pleasant town in County Down of Northern Ireland, about 10 minutes from Belfast.

Not to be confused with the Los Angeles district of Hollywood.

Get in

5 miles north east of Belfast city centre along the A2.

Buses to Holywood run regularly from Belfast, and there is a regular (every 10 minutes or so) train service.

Holywood consists of two main streets: High Street running generally west/east, and Church Road running generally north/south.

  • 🌍 Ned's bar, 55 High St, ☎ +44 28 9042 2588. is located next to the Maypole in the town centre and is very nice for a pint before heading out for dinner: it keeps English licensing hours so will close between 11 and 12 (unless you manage to get locked in).
  • 🌍 The Dirty Duck, 3 Kinnegar Rd, ☎ +44 28 9059 6666. is down by the seafront and is always a popular choice for people looking for live music or a pub quiz. The atmosphere is lively at night and there is a very pleasant beer garden for when the weather allows it.
