Cheadle

Cheadle was histrically situated in Cheshire and it borders Cheadle Hulme, Gatley, Heald Green and Cheadle Heath in Stockport, and East Didsbury in Manchester. Since prehistoric times, there has been a human occupation in the area that is today known as Cheadle with the earliest evidence of civilisation in the village being that of burial mounds which date back from the iron age, allegedly belonging to the Celts who occupied Britain. Later, the village was occupied by Brigantes and even the Romans. The village's Church, St Mary's Church situated on High Street was built during the reign of the infamous Henry VIII and is still standing as a Church today. Today, the village has many restaurants such as The Tiffin Room, Rio Brazil and Pizza Express and bars such as The Red Lion and The George and Dragon. In 2011, the village had a population of 14,698.

Stockport town centre has many taxi ranks that can take you to the village centre. There are many black taxis that travel throughout the village and they are easy to flag down.

• 🌍 Abney Park, SK8 2PD. is a local nature reserve, just a minutes walk from the village centre. The park is famous for its greenery and Abney Hall, a large Victorian House where Mrs. Agatha Christie often visited and wrote two stories from there: the novel After the Funeral and the short story The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding. The land and park surrounding the hall includes we meadows, which are becoming increasingly rare in Stockport as land is drained for development. Abney Hall is one of the few places in Stockport to feature such wetlands. There is also a small cafe called Abney Garden Teas in the Abney Centre in the centre of the park as well as a large duck pond and waterfall.  
• Bruntwood Park. is a park with an eighteen-hole par 3 pitch and putt course that makes the most of the landscape and sits alongside the existing mature trees. It also has a fully accessible child's playground and a refreshment kiosk and a restaurant with a Victorian conservatory which has been converted into a restaurant.
