Ballyconnell

Ballyconnell, named after the Ulster hero and Red Branch Knight Conall Cearnach, is steeped in history. Due to its location only a short distance to the border with Northern Ireland, residents can shop with British pounds and with the euro. The area is also now included in the UNESCO Marble Arch Global Geopark

In 2015, a sculpture was installed in front of the old Market House in the centre of the town. It's called "The Crossing Point". It tells the story of the comings and goings from North to South. It has a water feature and a speaking feature where you can sit and listen to a recording of your choice informing about local history.
