Bad Kohlgrub is a small skiing resort and spa on the Ammergau railway between Murnau and Oberammergau. The town's "home mountain" is the Hörnle mountain (1,547 metres/5,075 ft), accessible by chairlift.

By train from Murnau or Oberammergau. Murnau is on the main Munich–Innsbruck line. By car from Munich via the A-95 autobahn.
