Avranches

Avranches is a town on the coast in the south-west corner of Normandy, at the base of the Cotentin Peninsula. Mont Saint-Michel is quite nearby.

The town was liberated by American troops during the Normandy campaign after the D-Day invasion in World War II; there is a monument.
