Attock

Attock (Urdu: اٹک) is a city in Punjab (Pakistan), Pakistan. Known as Campbellpur in the British era, Attock witnessed a rapid growth in the 20th century. From the village it was in the early 1900s, it has become a bustling district capital with a population of about 100.000. It is situated on the banks of the river Indus.

See

Just a few km outside of Attock city lies the small community of Attock Khurd. Sometimes called "the Gateway to Central Asia", this small town boasts the remains of a 16th century fort, built by Akhbar the Great to protect passage of the Indus. The "Old Attock Bridge" over the river is one of the most strategic and commercial crossings on the Indus river between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
