Argentan

Argentan is in the Orne department in Lower Normandy.

Understand

Argentan is some distance south of Caen and the D-Day beaches. Falaise, around which a major battle was fought during World War II, is about halfway between Caen and Argentan. As part of that battle, American forces took Argentan.

Argentan is on a highway that runs from Caen to Le Mans. It is also on a rail line.
