Agua Prieta

Note: In 2014 the US State Department issued a travel warning to avoid non-essential travel to Agua Prieta after sunset, following a series of gun battles between rival cartel factions which resulted in multiple fatalities. The city was the scene of cartel in-fighting as recently as 2015, with some shootouts occurring in broad daylight. The travel warning has been rescinded, but visitors should still exercise caution especially at night, as the city is a major focal point for cross-border trafficking.
