Synonymy
(Short) history
- The genus Oriolella was erected by Baker (1968).
- The next year, Baker proposed a replacement name, Oriolella, as he thought Oriola was a preoccupied name (the name of the golden oriole (Aves) is not Oriola but Oriolus).
- The name Oriola was resurrected by André (2004).
- Oriolella is used in some publications, e.g. in Kaźmierski (1998) who lowered Oriolella in hierarchic rank and included it in the genus Proctotydaeus (Kaźmierski, 1998: 36)
