- Type unit and locality: Holotype from the base of the Currajong Limestone near the Shearing Shed, on Goodradigbee Station. Paratypes from the basal Currajong Limestone Member at reef 35802.0030 S, 148839.1690 E.
Etymology: The specific name is from the Greek trismos (= grinding); referring to the biting habit of the animal.
