(1892-1968) (A.Simmonds)

Horticulturalist and secretary to the Royal Horticultural Society 1921 until his retirement. He was born in Farnham in 1892 and was educated at Farnham grammar school before continuing his studies at Wisley. Organizer of the Chelsea Flower Show for a number of years, receiving various medals. He is well known for propagating the popular Caryopteris Clandonensis Simmondsia and was the author of "A Horticultural Who Was Who". Arthur has one daughter named Shirley who now resides in Vancouver, Canada.
