Kо је тужан, нек не тражи
Туге нове.
Доста му је, доста му је, —
Нек не чита песме ове.

Ко је срећан, нека грли

Слаботану,
Кâ што прашта мутном небу,
Плачном дану.

He who is sad, let him not seek
New sorrows.
It is enough for him, it is enough for him, —
Let him not read these poems.

He who is happy, let him embrace
His dreams,
Let him not rile his cheerful soul, —
Let him not read these poems.

He who reads them, let him forgive
This weak one,
As he forgives a turbid sky,
A tearful day.
