mulation is the spirit most desirable to arouse in the young. What of personal progress and relative usefulness has been effected by others, is always a valuable and inspiriting study. That which we are constrained to approve and admire we are led to emulate, even where imitation may not be possible. The sterling qualities which made a character excellent, still more than the mental powers which made it remarkable, convey lessons for instruction and encouragement that all can apply.
