The men were given ls. a week in harbour, and 1.. 3d. at sea. Their victuals, early in the reign, cost 1.. 0.d., and hter 1.. fid. a week. Masters received 3s. 4d.; pursers and boatswains, 1.. 8d.; quartermasters, ls. 6d.; and ste'ards and cooks, ls. 3d.
