The fowler is not defcribed by Monfon, but is mentioned by Mr. Lodge in his Illuftrations of Britifh Hiftory, Vol. i. p. 4. in an account of " Or- den~nce and Artilery." Temp. Hen. 8. as follows : <( Fowlers with their apparell, with two chambers" The facar, according to Monfon, was a piece of ordnance of three inches and a half bore, weight of Ihot five pounds and a half.
