They say, that when the oyster shell—
    (Listen the tale, my own fair Girl)—
Is wounded, straightway it is closed
    By ocean's loveliest gem, a pearl.

My heart is wounded;—with the eyes,
    Wave thou the heart too of the dove?
Be not more cruel than the Sea,
    But close the wound up with thy love!^[1]
