ACCUSATIVE (Lat. accusativus, sc. casus, a translation of the Gr. αἰτιατικὴ πτῶσις, the case concerned with cause and effect, from αἰτία, a cause), in grammar, a case of the noun, denoting primarily the object of verbal action or the destination of motion.
